Strawberry Blonde Sunflower grown July 2021

2022– I did not grow sunflowers in 2023 but I had one successful Mammoth Sunflower grow. I started them a six pack, and then transplanted five of them along the fence (not in a garden bed) and one in the one of the rows. The ones planted along the fence only got three or four feet tall and the head was only a couple inches across. But the one growing the bed grew six to seven feet tall and the head was about one foot across. I saved some of the seeds, but failed to plant them in 2023.

2024

Mar13- Planted four spots (two seeds per hole) of seeds saved from 2022. I decided to plant two per square foot instead of one, because I can. For now…

Mar 18– Planted six 4” pots with Mammoth Russian. And five 4” pots with Strawberry Blonde. Pots were left in greenhouse.

April 10- Planted Mammoth seeds (saved from 2022) in the strawberry rows. I spaced them about two feet apart.

May 27- Mammoth seeds with the strawberries did not sprout (or if they did, they were eaten by slugs). But the seeds planted Mar 13, are happy and 1’ tall!

Direct Sowed Mar 13
