Feb 1- Winter sowed a jug of Sweet Red bell pepper, and one jug Long Pepper Blend (2022).
Apr 17- Bought one Gypsy Sweet in a 2qt pot (hoping to get peppers earlier) and a six cell flat of Sweet Rainbow Mix Bell Peppers. They were all planted in the greenhouse except one of the Rainbow blend will be transplanted outside when it’s warmer. This plant will be separated from one of the others instead of cutting off to thin.
The winter sowed peppers never sprouted.
May 28– Update: The pepper I separated instead of cutting off is doing better in the 6” pot than the ones planted in the larger pots. This is encouraging! If I have to buy more next year, instead of cutting to thin, I can separate and get twice as many plants for my money. Also, I think I need to up pot instead of plant. My guess is that the smaller pot gets warmer during the day and makes the plant happy. (Same thing is happening with my tomatoes) Also the Gypsy Sweet has flowered. I didn’t hand pollinate, I hope the bees made it in…

July 13- The Gypsy Sweet has three ripe peppers and the ants seemed to have moved in… The plant itself doesn’t seem to have grown much, and hasn’t put on other flowers yet. The other peppers have grown some, but the only other one that has flowers, is the one that was transplanted into the 6” pot. I will say, the greenhouse doesn’t get enough sunlight in its current position, and everything seems to be nitrogen deficient.
